With creativity and a love of improvisation and
experimentation, the Norwegian piano trio
Falkevik combines Nordic jazz tradition with
elegant pop melodies. Their critically acclaimed
debut album "Louder Than I'm Used To" was
released in 2018; it received great reception and was coined
"one of the autumn's best new names" by one of Norway's most prominent
media houses Dagsavisen.
Falkevik will be releasing the album "New Constellations" in September 2021, and the dreamy jazz-pop single "Changeable" is the second single. The song is inspired by several of the unique young people Julie meets as a music teacher.
"Changeable" is about a meeting with a young person who is not quite able to imagine the future yet. Who does not quite know where the road leads or where to go, but that at the same time, you can sometimes feel invincible. The chorus contains the various sides that one holds as a young person. You are changeable, unreasonable and lovable at the same time." - Julie Falkevik Tungevåg
The single "Amplify Me" was released on April 30th as the first taste from the upcoming album. The song has received excellent feedback, including the music blog Everything Is Noise which wrote: " Simply put: Norway's Falkevik has composed one of the most beautiful and motivating pieces of music I've heard so far this year ". - Tyler Kollinok
The members of Falkevik have a well-established foothold as skilled musicians in the Norwegian jazz scene. Vocalist and pianist Julie Falkevik Tungevåg, whose clear and unique voice mesmerizes the listener, playfully explores the piano's soundscapes by applying live electronics and effects, which gives the music a distinct electronic vibe. The rhythm section, which consists of Ellen Brekken and Marius Trøan Hansen, constantly supports the essence of the songs. Their flexibility and ability to emphasize the elements in the music generate the core sound of Falkevik.
